July Haul

Hey guys, so I thought i'd do a post showing you a few of the bits i've bought this month. You may have seen my hot dog shirt and flatforms, but here are a few more things I picked up during the fabulous sales we are having...

Topman Eye Ring, £2
So ladies the golden rule is when the Topshop sale is on... never miss out Topman! If you're into baggy tees and grandad jumpers, be sure to have a rummage in the male section sales too. They also have some great chunky jewellery on sale. This eye ring is just perfect, and was only £2!

Topshop Grey T-Shirt Dress, £10
I'd been eyeing these up ever since they hit Topshop a couple of months back, as the shape and basic fit is just lovely for when you just need to chuck something on. I found this Maternity version in the sale (the label says Maternity but you can't even tell, honest! It's great for covering up any 'food babies' too!) and to mix it up I like to tie the front up with a hair bobble and wear with my slouchy boots. I couldn't believe how cheap I got it and I haven't stopped wearing it since!

T-Shirts (From top, clockwise) American Flat Shirt - Topman, £10, Aztec print shirt - Charity Shop, £2, Skeleton Cut Out Shoulder Top - Topshop, £7
I grabbed this American flag shirt whilst browsing Topman with my boyfriend today. I love the print and it looks great with rolled up sleeves and high waisted shorts. I love charity shops but i'm not the best at rummaging, however when shopping with my grandma I picked up this thick aztec print top for only £2! Finally, this cut out shoulder top has a cute skeleton print all over, and was only £7 from Topshop.

Asos Grungey Knit Cropped Jumper - £6, New Look High Waisted Swallow Print Shorts - £8, Primark Bag - £12
I found this cute jumper in the sale at Asos, and it came with free delivery. It's great just to throw over the top of outfits or even underneath strappy dresses. I love the slouchiness of it too. The shorts I found in the New Look sale which I loved when they were full price, so I was overjoyed when I found them more than half price off! The bag I simply couldn't resist, I love big black bags that I can store everything in, and this one is just perfect and a brilliant price at only £12.

 Close up of the bag!

What steals have you found in the shops recently?

HOW TO: Design & Make Your Own T-Shirt

Hello lovelies,

Recently I've been experimenting with fabric paints and the results were great, so I thought why not show you guys how you can make your own designs? You can really paint on to anything, bags, t shirts, canvas pumps... The possibilities are endless. So with a little creativity you can design something of your very own. Take my bones dress below as an example. I took a plain pink dress from asos and added my own little touch to it to make it something completely original. Read on to find out how!

So first of all let's go over the things you'll need...
- A plain vest/t shirt/bag, whatever you desire to customise
- Some newspaper
- Paintbrushes
- Fabric Paint in the colours you desire (for mine I used DYLON fabric paint in white and Speedball screen printing ink in black)
- A white eyeliner

So first of all you need to choose a design. I like doing bold typography. Draw an outline of the design you want on your shirt with your white eyeliner. You could also use chalk for this. When you are happy, slip some newspaper in between the t shirt to avoid the paint running through, and begin to fill in your design with the fabric paint. You may want to go over your design 2-3 times so the colour is completely opaque. With the white fabric paint I went over my design three times, waiting for each coat to dry before starting the next. You may also want to fix your design between coats with an iron (cover your design with a cloth or tea towel before you iron!) on a low heat for a few minutes.

When you are happy with your design, you can create an outline like I have here. Use a thinner paintbrush for this and once again, you can go over this however much you like until you are happy. Wait to dry and then iron over for a few minutes to fix your design.

Ta-da! Your finished vest! Now you can wear with pride!

It is advisable to hand wash your product before wearing, and also for further washing. The paints however should be waterproof! Check out another design I did...

It's so much fun and you'll get people asking 'where did you get that from?!' It's our little secret!
Let me know if you tried it out for yourself!

Look What Arrived In The Post Today...

I almost squealed with joy when I saw a huge box waiting for me from Asos when I got home today. My Asos Volleyball Flatforms had arrived! If you have read my Flatforms post, you'll know I ordered myself some amazing platform pumps from Asos, and here they are!

So I must admit although I knew how high the platform would be, they looked so huge in real life! I quickly tried them on... and fell over. These are gonna take some getting used to! They may look like trainers (I'm rubbish at walking in heels!) but bear in mind it is impossible to flex your foot in these like you would a regular pump. Plus they are mega high! So take care if you decide to try them out. However, they look AMAZING on. I love them! They're surprisingly super comfy and I think I will get used to the platform very quickly. They're a great alternative to heels. Plus I really cannot fault how fast Asos deliver considering it didn't cost me a thing! They remind me of my Spice Girls platform trainers I used to have as a kid. They're so much fun and very unusual!

Flatforms: Asos, Socks: Primark

I'll try get some outfit photos with these up soon, along with regular OOTD's :) Let me know what you think of the flatform trend.

SMUT Clothing

Hey guys,

I have been loving online store SMUT recently. You may have heard of them for their dare-to-wear designs and cheeky advertisements, and I managed to get my hands on this much wanted Naughty Vicar shirt for a bargainous £15. Unfortunately the shirt is currently sold out, but keep an eye out for restocking! I do get a few strange looks when I do wear this naughty number, but let them look! ;)

Yours truly sporting SMUT's Naughty Vicar Shirt

SMUT also do the shirt in a cropped grey version which would look AMAZING with a black maxi skirt or a pair of high waisted shorts. Keep an eye out for their new designs too which may include a studded leather jacket (squeal!!) Their studded snapbacks are also to die for... SMUT constantly pushes the boundaries of fashion.

Lusting After

Hello everyone,

So it's my birthday next month (yay!) so I thought I'd compile a few bits I'll be adding to my present list this year.

I spotted this rucksack when browsing asos. It's not to everyone's taste but I love it's fun burger print! I think it would add a bit of craziness to an all black outfit. Imagine rocking this little baby in the park this summer. It's sure to turn a few heads! Check out their other equally as cool designs too!

I have always loved Mr Martens, I can remember begging for a bright purple pair for Christmas when I was little! I was hoping my mum would still have some old pairs in the back of her wardrobe, sadly they were all donated to charity shops years ago! They are so classic- and really grunge down a pretty dress. They are also such a festival friendly shoe. I do think that the more worn the better (although a hole in the bottom of your sole isn't so good in the rain and mud!) so I think I'll be searching for a pair on eBay. The ones pictured however you can find in Schuh, just in case you're not an avid bidder!

You may have seen my review on the site MapleLens (if not, go read it now!) and my next purchase I'm thinking will be a lovely blue pair! These ones are from the Vassen range with a diameter of 14.5mm. I love how these have a really dark ring for that classic dolly look. Plus it'd be really interesting to have a change of colour!

I've been lusting after this for AGES and now it's in the asos half price sale! Combining both my loves for relaxed denim and Pink Floyd this piece is just begging to be inside my wardrobe! I'd wear it with a sheer black maxi skirt and a cropped vest with my Dr Martens ;)

I love slouchy bags and fringed ones just look so cool with any outfit. I love this grey one which I hunted down on eBay. It's such a good price too!

What have you guys been lusting after this month?

£100 Asos Outfit Challenge

Hey lovelies,

I came across this challenge via Lucy's Blog to put together a dream asos outfit that came to £100 or under, so I thought I'd give it a go seeing as I just ADORE asos... the total of my outfit comes to £94 and here is what I chose...

Maxi Dress - £28
Satchel - £28
Beanie - £8

It was so difficult to choose an outfit because there is so much I love on asos, but I finally settled on this amazing maxi dress. I love how it looks a little grungy and so easy to wear. I can imagine tying it up a little at the front when trailing through the festival fields this summer (or I wish!) These flatforms are so much like Jeffrey Campbells - and you guys should know I love a good flatform! The cute little strap makes them to girly but the print gives them edge. This bag would be fantastic to hold everything in (that includes my eyeliner and an umbrella!) and finally to top it off I picked this slouchy boyfriend fit beanie, just because of the current UK climate my hair never seems to stay in place!

I made this image using the brilliant Fashion Finder tool on asos. Why not try the challenge yourself? (It's harder than it looks!)

Thanks so much for reading. Hope you like my outfit!

Maplelens.com Review - Circle Lenses

Hi everyone,

So this post is going to be a little review about my experience with the contact lens company Maple Lens. I had wanted a pair of circle lenses for ages and I finally plucked up the courage to buy some. After lots of Google researching I came across the site Maplelens.com. Do not be put off by the fact the company is in Malaysia. Most of the companies I found that stocked circle lenses are situated abroad. As you may know, circle lenses are so popular in Japan. I love Japanese street style, plus the doll look circle lenses give you is just lovely. I just knew I needed to try them out!

I decided on Maple Lens due to their great customer service and reviews. I checked out the Facebook page and saw lots of positive comments about the lenses themselves as well as the service. What really swung the deal was that Maple Lens were offering FREE DELIVERY! I was so surprised and delighted!

There are actually so many lenses to choose from on the site, it was so hard to decide. They also have a great range in the sale section too. I finally settled on the Geo Medical black circle lenses, with a diameter of 15.0mm. I love the pattern on the lenses and I thought the black would suit my eyes as well as my overall look.

You can find these lenses here

The website was so easy to use. You can choose what prescription you desire too... luckily I have good vision! I paid via Paypal and received an email very shortly after confirming my order and they suggested a 4-7 week wait. However, I was very surprised to find out they wouldn't take that long at all and they arrived in approx. 3 weeks!

The lenses were so well wrapped. I'd read about some lenses being sent from companies who had wrapped them in an envelope and little else. The lenses come in a little glass bottle each filled with saline solution, therefore it's important that they are wrapped safely. The lenses from Maple Lens were in an envelope, but they were very safe and secure in both a box and bubble wrap! It also came with an adorable little hippo lens case so I can store them after use. This came free of charge! Very impressed so far...

I was so excited to put them in, but first I removed them from the bottles and placed them into my lens case filled with an all in one contact solution which I left them in over night. As it's your eyes we are dealing with, we have to make sure everything is clean! I also gave the lens case a good wash with the solution and handled my lenses with clean hands.

The next day I gave my hands a good clean and before putting in each lens, cleaned them yet again with contact solution in the palm of my hand. Here was the tricky bit!

I put the lenses in BEFORE my make up as my eyes have the tenancy to water. It took me a while to get the lenses in admittedly, but I am a first timer! Make sure the lenses are not inside out... there are lots of youtube videos to help get you started with this. Once I'd got them in... I WAS AMAZED! The lenses just look beautiful and my eyes look so huge and doll like. When wearing them out, i've had so many nice comments about them. They really make my eyes stand out. I couldn't even feel them in my eyes believe it or not, they're so comfortable! Taking them out was no problem too. Make sure you clean your hands before taking them out, as well as a clean with solution afterwards and a nice clean case filled with solution for your lenses to store in.

Here is a picture of the finished look!

I would recommend Maple Lens to anyone wanting to buy circle lenses and I will definitely be a returning customer. I am so happy. A 5/5 from me! Maple Lens also offer a monthly competition on their Facebook site. Just see their Facebook page for details.

What do you think of my new lenses? Would you try out circle lenses too?

July Inspiration

As an avid blogger, Tumblr is one of my favourite places to find images. Here I have collected a few favourites which inspire how to dress (or how I wish I did!) When it comes to fashion, I love buying vintage as 1. they're so fun to rummage and find, 2. you can find yourself a lovely and unusual bargain and 3. it's very unlikely you'll find two of the same thing. I am skint most of the time, but many of the trends I love at the moment you can pick up easily and cheaply too. I'm thinking slouchy t shirts (men's sections in shops such as Primark and the Topman sale are great for this kind of thing), leather and suede patches, bobble hats, chunky socks and oversized sweatshirts. Plus, DIY is huge this year, from everything to tie dyeing t shirts to studs. I myself are working on stencils and practising with fabric paints onto cheap plain t shirts (you can pick up a plain t shirt or vest from Primark for a mere £2.50!) so you can make yourself something completely unique. Studs aren't always cheap however, although a quick search on eBay and you can find lots of different styles. Here's a tip, the cheapest ones come from abroad ;)

I will be trying some tie dying very soon so I will let you guys know how it all works out. Fingers crossed I don't end up dying my mum's carpet.

All the images below I found on Tumblr. I hope you are as inspired as I am! Alicja x

^^
I need a pair of glasses just like these! I love how the bow sits on top of her messy hair.
^^
I love the tartan jacket. I have a shirt very similar at home I got from the men's section in Primark a couple of years ago. I chopped off the sleeves and hey presto, an oversized sleeveless jacket.
^^
I adore the simpleness of this outfit. I am totally in love with the fabric of the shirt and rolled up sleeves are great for giving your look a slouchy and laid back feel.

Love this month: FLATFORMS

So I figured for my first post I'd talk to you all about the trend I am most excited about this year. I have been waiting and waiting for platform trainers to hit the market over here in the UK ever since I saw platform Converse popping up in Japanese street style images. I am not particularly a fan of the ever-popular Creepers, however the platform sneaker is my new favourite shoe... it is just perfect!

I'd seen some amazing ones on eBay that deliver from abroad, however as soon as I began thinking about ordering myself a pair, ASOS came to the rescue with some amazing styles at such affordable prices. My lovely boyfriend was obviously sick to death of me whining on and on about having a pair ('I will wear them everyday! I promise!') as he bought me this AMAZING pair...

Asos, £30

These babies are from the Asos DECO range, and came with a pair of bright orange laces too. I adore the very on trend aztec pattern, and these look amazing with my black denim high waisted shorts with a tucked in band tee. Sometimes I throw in a little girly touch with a pair of frilly white socks (a bit like the kind you were forced to wear at school. I found mine in Primark of all places!) You can find these here

Last night I was browsing Asos yet again as they have a brilliant 50% off sale. I then got an email telling me that today some items would be reduced to 70%, so I saved these Asos Volleyball flatforms into my watched items and went to bed hoping they'd be reduced even more. This morning I was so happy to see they'd been reduced even further, to an incredible £15! I couldn't resist, plus I had an Asos voucher to spend. Plus I got free delivery. Hooray!

Asos, £15 (sale)

Now these aren't for the faint hearted as the platform is huge and although they are white, they make such a statement! My Asos Deco pair have a very modest platform and I decided to go that little bit extra. Plus, they were such a steal. Find them here (and buy before they sell out!) I think I'll have to have a little practice in these around the house before I wear them in public as I have a very annoying habit of tripping over my own feet. I'm thinking some cute chunky socks, bare legs and a girly dress, paired with a leather fringe bag and a slouchy cardigan. I know it's summer, but if you live in the UK like me, you'll notice the truly awful weather we are having. As Brits, we need to know how to layer up!

Flatforms are such an easy way to add a bit of extra height and/or make a statement with your footwear. Plus they look fabulous with a pair of skinny jeans.

I'll upload some pictures of my amazing new flatforms as soon as they arrive. I'm so excited!

See you soon. Alicja x
